Bali Malas, Karyn and Jay, Boulder, CO

We and our four children (three twentish-teen aged boys and their little sister) have walked the balance between hectic Western lives and spiritually evolving organic devotees. Karyn's path of Shambhala Buddhist and yogic studies and Jay's continued sadness for having to leave the Natural Products industry for a college-tuition earning corporate job, have led them to this place. We seek to bring some ancient wisdom and beauty from the East, support indigenous peoples in a sustainable, enriching pursuit, and bring blessings to all through Bali Malas.   We are truly blessed by the love, support and devotion of our entire family.  Our offices are located in beautiful Boulder CO, 720-288-0851

Aum Rudraksha Designs, Soma Temple Bali, Indonesia

Aum Rudraksha Designs are the creators of Bali Malas and are based in Pecatu, Bali.  Mixing finest quality gems with rare small rudraksha beads resulting in malas and jewelry that are both healing and spiritual.  All of our designs are made to specific spiritual numbers.  All beads are authentic, sustainably harvested, fairly traded, ethically produced and blessed.

About Soma; I have been living in Bali Indonesia for many years now, dedicated to living in awareness and truth and wanting peace and freedom for all beings in this lifetime. Rudraksha has become part of this for me.  Many years ago in India, while sitting with well known teacher H.W.L Poonja, he suggested that because I lived close to the source of highest quality small Rudraksha in the world, that I should find them. He wished for these beads to be shared with more people in the world, and to bring them to the West, because of the power of rudraksha in healing and creating peace of mind. He stated that the world would be a better place if everyone was wearing rudraksha beads. Due to the state of the world today, I have, after many years, searched these beads out.

About our Blessings:

Our business is blessed in Bali by the high priest Ida Pedando Made Gunung.  Aum Rudraksha Designs also provides his ceremonial malas.  Our beads are blessed when they arrive before they are strung and every shipment that leaves ARD is blessed.    Several daily offerings are made by our staff of traditional Balinese ceremony and prayers.

From our creator/designer Soma in Bali:
Today we had a blessing ceremony!  It was beautiful as we have just received stock, and we got all the beads out and the priest had made up all these offerings and spent about a half hour with holy water, mantras, flowers, incense. So beautiful, and he put eggs on our feet and our hands, tied strings around our big toes, and our wrist.  This was so that we would walk in the right direction with our business and so that our hands would create, give and receive with grace.  It was beautiful, we also put the rice on our forehead for pure thoughts, on our throat for pure words, on our head for loving god, and over our shoulder for pure action.

All of our girls who string the beads also prayed with us, and were all so happy.  They love it!!  And so do we, and so do the beads, as they truly are Holy!

Los Angeles (CNN) – Robin Lim, an American woman who has helped thousands of poor Indonesian women have a healthy pregnancy and birth, was named the 2011 CNN Hero of the Year on Sunday night.Through her Yayasan Bumi Sehat health clinics, "Mother Robin," or "Ibu Robin" as she is called by the locals, offers free prenatal care, birthing services and medical aid in Indonesia, where many families cannot afford care.

"Every baby's first breath on Earth could be one of peace and love. Every mother should be healthy and strong. Every birth could be safe and loving. But our world is not there yet," Lim said during "CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute," which took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and recognized Lim and the other top 10 CNN Heroes of 2011.  Through her Yayasan Bumi Sehat health clinics, "Mother Robin," or "Ibu Robin" as she is called by the locals, offers free prenatal care, birthing services and medical aid in Indonesia, where many families cannot afford care. Many women in the developing world do not have access to contraception or maternal care. According to the United Nations Population Fund, three out of five women giving birth in South Asia do so without a skilled birth attendant on hand. In Indonesia, the average family earns the equivalent of $8 a day, according to the International Monetary Fund. But a baby delivery costs about $70 at a hospital, and a Caesarian section can cost as much as $700.  Lim believes Indonesia's high maternal and infant mortality rates are caused in part by these costs, which many women cannot meet.  "The situation is bad ... babies are unattended, deliveries have become commercialized, and mothers die from hemorrhage after childbirth because they can't afford proper care," Lim told CNN earlier this year.  The CNN Hero of the Year was chosen by the public after an 11-week vote on CNN.com. For being named Hero of the Year, Lim will receive $250,000 for her cause. That's in addition to the $50,000 that she and the rest of the top 10 Heroes each received for making the top 10.

In Bali you will inevitably meet a child of the streets, begging at intersections or "working" the streets in tourist areas.  These children come from the poorest areas of Bali and have no proper shelter, food, education or attention.  They are often traumatized victims of abuse and without help they will eventually learn to survive as a "boss" of younger children or turn to the tourist sex industry.  All proceeds from this simple bracelet go to www.ykpa.org a non profit organization that has cared for these kids since 2007 and soon to be a registered orphange. Tie this bracelet onto your wrist as a pledge to yourself and a symbol to others that these children are not forgotten.  Terima Kasih (thank you).  Please let us know if you prefer a certain color thread.Healthy Mother Earth Foundation is a not for profit organization of committed families, teachers, midwives, doctors, nurses and caring citizens from many countries. We advocate for the reproductive rights of displaced, marginalized, low- income women, of all cultures and their children.  In Bali we are achieving a higher standard of maternal and child health through culturally sensitive prenatal, postpartum, birth services and the support of breast feeding.  We work hand in hand with the communities we serve in order to establish sustainable health care, educational projects, and HIV/ AIDS prevention programs.
